To further enrich our New Mexico community, through instruction and sharing of the Spanish language, its literature, and Hispanic culture.
Claudia was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. As a native Spanish speaker, she understands both the beauty and importance of learning a second language. She arrived in Las Cruces, NM in 2009, with a passionate purpose to one day learn English and pursue her love for teaching. She began learning English through the English as a Second Language Program (ESL) and later received her GED and Associates Degree from Doña Ana Community College (DACC). She continued her education at New Mexico State University (NMSU), graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Languages and a Master of Arts in Spanish.
She is a dedicated and introspective instructor, constantly seeking to improve and explore new teaching methods that will further enhance the student experience. Her passionate enjoyment for learning languages is used as a teaching tool that encourages and facilitates the student’s voyage toward mastering conversational Spanish from day one. Claudia believes to be able to speak another language; interactive conversation must be the curriculum’s core principle.
In addition to teaching, Claudia enjoys reading and writing. She is currently writing a book that illustrates life on the Mexican border town of Ciudad Juarez. Claudia has traveled extensively throughout Mexico and recently completed a one-week exchange program in Costa Rica.
Claudia believes learning Spanish will help make our community and nation become stronger and more unified. Becoming a Claudia Spanish Academy scholar, you will learn important skills, establish new friendships, and become a valuable member of a special family that is becoming ever more unified and influential.
